If you need help, click here for tips on how to use the map.

Tips

Searching by Postcode

  • Type your postcode into the ‘Enter your postcode’ box at the top left of the page.  Then click the ‘Search’ button
  • When you click ‘Search’ the map will zoom right in on your postcode area.  You may need to zoom out a little, to see the services nearby.
  • To zoom out, do one of the following:
    • Use the + and – buttons on the left hand side of the map.  When you tap the  button, you will start to zoom out.  Keep tapping that button until more of the map comes into view, and you can see the little pin marking the service provider.
    • Use the scroller on your mouse to zoom in or out.
  • If you want to start over again, click the ‘Reset Map’ button at the right of the page.
  • Please note that from time to time there may be little glitches with this search function: the map library is a global one, and sometimes a postcode can look like a road name or number in another part of the world.  Please let us know if this happens to you.
  • If you are having trouble using this function, please click ‘Reset Map’ and start over, using the ‘I am looking for information on…’ or ‘Search by Services and Support’ functions instead.

Searching by Keyword

  • Are you searching for particular kinds of services that you can describe with a key word?  e.g. historical enquiries, ex-services, older people, etc.
  • Type your key word into the ‘I am looking for information on…’ box.  Then click the ‘Search’ button
  • When you click ‘Search’ the map will highlight service providers that include your key word in the description that they have provided about their organisation.
  • We are working to continually improve the accuracy of these listings.  It is possible that a search term that you think of has not been listed yet, and so it will not highlight any service providers.  If you want to suggest a key word that you would find useful, please let us know.  You can do this by visiting the ‘Contact Us’ section on this website.

Searching by Services and Support

  • The easiest way to look for a particular kind of service, is to use the ‘Search by Services and Support’ function.
  • To search for a specific service, click on the ‘Search by Services and Support’ box.
  • You will see a menu drop down from the box.  Use your cursor to select the specific kind of service that you are looking for, and then click the ‘Search’ button.
  • If you do this without entering a postcode, this will show you the relevant services across the whole region.  You can then use your cursor to zoom in on your local area.
  • If you want to start over again, click the ‘Reset Map’ button at the right of the page.

Click on the blue markers to find out more.

  • The small blue markers show the location (or approximate location) of different service providers.
  • To find out about each one, you need to actually click on the marker – don’t just hover over it.
  • When you click on the marker, the map may zoom in suddenly.  You may need to zoom out to get a better view of the map.
