Pobal is a prominent Irish not-for-profit organisation established in 1992 that manages and distributes Irish government and European Union funding. Acting as a bridge between the state and local communities, it delivers major public programmes with a particular focus on combatting social exclusion and promoting equality by supporting marginalised groups, disadvantaged communities, and vulnerable populations across Ireland.

Pobal is part of the VSS-PULSE project; as the only ROI-based partner, Pobal will utilise its trust and reach among Irish communities, especially in the southern border counties, to strengthen the cross-border impact of the project.

Currently, there are few services in ROI for the delivery of trauma-informed care specifically for Victims and Survivors of the Troubles/conflict. Via its dedicated team, Pobal offers a referral service which assesses the health and wellbeing needs of those who engage with the project; based on this assessment, individuals will be directed towards the most suitable options and guided throughout the process. These referrals may range from counselling support, education and training opportunities, social integration activities, etc, subject to assessment outcomes.

In mapping and analysing the services, resources and the processes by which Victims and Survivors are able to access support, Pobal strives to continuously improve the service both Pobal and other partner organisations are able to offer in ROI.
