County Armagh Phoenix

County Armagh Phoenix Group (CAPG) was formed in 2007 to support ex members of the security services who are victims of terrorism in County Armagh. We have Charity Status and at present we have a membership of over 800 members, comprising Co Armagh RUC GC, Police Welfare Associations from Armagh, Lurgan and Newry and Mourne, 2 UDR Association, Armagh Association Voluntary Welfare Group, Retired Prison Service Officers Association, and Richhill Royal British Legion.

There are many direct and indirect victims given the huge impact of terrorism in County Armagh and the surrounding areas. As a result of a lack of suitable support services in Co Armagh for victims from our constituency it is vital that County Armagh Phoenix continue to develop their service to support this unmet need.

We strive to provide support, relieve poverty, sickness and disablement among ex-members, their families and dependants in County Armagh (“Area of Benefit”) who are victims of terrorism under the 2006 Definition of a Victim. We aim to promote the benefits without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and members in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for the recreation or other leisure–time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said members.

This organisation receives support from the Victims Support Programme for Groups Working with Victims and Survivors, to deliver some or all of the services that it provides. Its views do not necessarily reflect those of the Victims and Survivors Service.
