The Centre for Health and Well Being has delivered complementary therapies and personal development classes throughout Belfast, although mainly in West Belfast, for 22 years. In doing this it receives support from Department for Communities, Community Empowerment Division, receiving support and client referrals for Carers from Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. Referrals regarding Victims and Survivors are received from the Victims and Survivors Service, local counselling organisations, individuals, and Social and Medical Services.
The Centre has 2 staff, 2 volunteers, 6 board members and 12 self-employed therapists. Each therapist is a professional member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, is fully insured and has Access NI Enhanced Check clearance.
The Centre’s volunteers are local people who have benefitted from the services provided and want to give something back.
The Centre offers each client 6 one hour weekly therapies at a date and time that suits the client. The Centre’s practice is guided by the ‘Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing’ model and as such the client/therapist will devise a personal development plan that should reflect improved mental and physical health. Currently 90% of the Centre’s clients report an improvement in physical and mental wellbeing. In a typical year 500 – 600 individuals would directly benefit from the therapy services delivered by the Centre.
The Centre for Health and Wellbeing has previously been awarded a Bronze level accreditation in Investors in People.
