Independent Panel embarks on leaflet drop to every household in NI
Truth Recovery Independent Panel information leaflets will be delivered to all households across NI in the coming weeks.
The Independent Panel was appointed by the Executive Office to find out the truth about Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses in NI from 1922 – 1995.
The leaflet invites people who have been impacted by or who have any knowledge or memories of the institutions and their related pathways and practices to share their experiences with the panel.
The leaflet will be delivered to 254,577 households in Belfast, Derry/Londonderry and Newry throughout the week beginning 17 February. The leaflet will then be delivered to a further 590,478 households across NI beginning 3 March.
The leaflet is part of the Independent Panel’s ongoing efforts to reach as many people as possible and ensure that all voices are heard in the truth recovery process.
A digital copy of the leaflet is available to view at the following link: Official Independent Panel Leaflet
In 2022 VSS launched a service dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of victims and survivors impacted by Mother & Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses. This includes those impacted by related institutions and associated historical adoption practices.
VSS work in partnership with WAVE Trauma Centre and Adopt NI to deliver a range of support and services regionally across NI. VSS will also ensure that victims living outside of NI have access to the support and services that they need. This includes dedicated health wellbeing caseworkers, counselling, complementary therapies, information recovery & family tracing, disability aids, persistent pain and a range of other social and welfare support.
